A Message From Our Chair - January 2025

Fellow Democrats,

The new Administration has taken office in Washington, and the results are pretty much as we predicted. The initial actions, mostly in the form of executive orders, seek to target marginalized communities for harassment, undermine efforts to protect the environment, and weaken the guardrails against tyranny, while providing pardons to insurrectionists and threatening conflict with our allies. We are dismayed, but we are not surprised.

We are determined to stand firm for our shared values and the ongoing effort to ensure America lives up to its promise of liberty and justice for all. We will continue to fight for living wages, affordable housing, accessible and affordable health care, a clean and sustainable environment, quality education, free and fair elections, and equal rights — for everyone. As Democrats, we echo the words of Senator Ted Kennedy: “The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”

In the weeks and months to come, we look forward to dialogue with our neighbors about the issues and concerns that most impact us in Solano County, and how we can address those concerns. Watch for events hosted by your local Democratic club or the central committee near you and join us as we work together for a better, more prosperous, and inclusive community.

Sincerely,

Don Lowrie
Chair
